Antisocial behaviour is the main issue that residents are telling us about so I’m pleased to report that we have seen a drop in incidents thanks to Operation Titan.
Extra patrols have been in place in key areas, at key times. Officers and youth workers have also been speaking to young people about the consequences of getting involved in crime and antisocial behaviour.
As a result, reports of antisocial behaviour fell by 34 per cent between September and November compared with last year – that’s 219 fewer victims.
As part of Our Service Promise we will continue to listen to the community so it’s really important that people tell us what they think about the work officers are doing to keep them safe. I hope residents feel reassured and confident that we will act on their concerns to make their neighbourhood safer.
We have also launched a crackdown on alcohol-related antisocial behaviour across the neighbourhood.
Patrols have been increased on Friday and Saturday nights and police are visiting licensed premises, along with Oldham Council officers, to crackdown on underage alcohol sales.
This operation is about reassuring those who come to Royton and Shaw for a night out that they can have a good time without the fear of becoming a victim of crime. I also want to encourage people to look after themselves by pacing their drinks, staying with their friends, and using safe transport.
